Davidson College
Assistant Professor – Experimental Physics

The Davidson College Physics Department invites applications for a tenure-track position at the level of Assistant Professor in the area of Experimental Physics starting July 1, 2018. We seek an experimentalist who will teach upper-level laboratory courses (modern physics, electronics & instrumentation, and advanced laboratory), introductory courses and laboratories, and intermediate and advanced theory courses.  Typical teaching load is five classes a year; during year one there is a one-course reduction.

Candidates are also expected to sustain a strong experimental physics research program involving undergraduate students. Candidates whose research specialty is interdisciplinary and who can teach maker and fabrication skills in the context of their research or upper-level laboratory courses are strongly encouraged to apply. Candidates are also expected to be highly committed to excellence in both undergraduate teaching and scholarly research. Candidates must possess a PhD in Physics or related field by fall 2018.
